The Camera

1. The camera obscure effect is where you have a completely dark room with a small hole in one wall, the light from outside shines through the tiny hole and the outside scene is projected onto the opposite wall of the hole.

2. Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens took a step closer to building the modern camera by  perfecting and understanding the optics of a glass lens

3. The first modern camera made by Niepces had only a glass lens, dark box, and film

4. Modern cameras are very similar to Niepces because they both have the light pass through the lens and be exposed onto film

5. Nowadays digital cameras use digital film to capture a photo, they use a digital censor called a CCD

6. Auto mode lets the camera controls everything like the flash and exposure, if you put the camera in program mode it allows you to control and change the flash, exposure, and other things

7. Portrait mode is used to blur the background, the camera will use the fastest aperture to keep the main object in focus and the background blurred

8. Sports mode is used to capture something at high speed and in motion, this camera mode will set the cameras shutter speed to the highest possible

9. In manual the photographer must set both the shutter speed and aperture

10. You should use a half press all the time because the camera auto focused could be confused. A half press tells the camera you are preparing for the shot

11. The symbol means the flash is off and the camera will not use the flash when you take the shot

12. The symbol means that the camera will determine if the flash should be on or off for the shot

13. Too much light and the photo will be washed out

14. Not enough like and the photo will come out dark

15. "Stop" is used to represent a relative change in brightness of light

16. 1

17. 2

18. Longer shutter speeds let in a lot more light

19. Shorter shutter speeds allow less light to come in

20. Aperture is how large or small the hole the light travels through is

21. You can increase light by decreasing the F-stops
