Simplicity
By  FDNY VIA AP

This photo is an example of a simple photo because theres not a lot going on in the photo, it focuses on one simple thing.  By making this a simple photo it allows you to not get easily distracted by the background.
Rule of Thirds
By REUTERS
In this photo, the towers are placed in the upper third to give the photo depth. It allows you to see the distance of the towers to make it more interesting. Its also cool how the photo includes the US flag as a symbol of hope.
Lines
By STEVE MCCURRY/MAGNUM
In the photo you get the feeling of gloom and sorrow, the stairs created leading lines down to the ground. You can see the sunlight coming through the holes it the wall from the destruction.
Balance
By Supplied
In this photo of the rubble the different parts of the building sticking out creates a balance effect. Since the parts are sticking up in all different directions The two worked have to look up at all the damage made.
Framing
By STEVE MCCURRY/MAGNUM
The giant hole in the side of the building creates a frame around the firefighter climbing the ladder. This photo also uses the lines of the ladder to show where the fireman is going. I think it was a very unique photo.
Avoid Mergers
By RON EDMONDS/AP
In the photo the photographer did a bad job of avoiding mergers because the helicopter is merging with the building. I would have liked to see the helicopter above the building so it would be more clear what the subject of the photo is.
