Portfolio analysis - how judges pick winning portfolios and sports photos
Portfolio Contest

a. Travis Haughton
b. his focus seems to be on kids and catching things in the moment
c. the story wasn't clear, didn't like the backs of peoples heads, and too graphic
d. the judges liked the lighting, and the uniqueness
e. i liked some of the pictures in his portfolio but as the judges said some of them have backs of peoples heads and some are unclear on what the story is. But overall there were some that i liked that told a good story and had good lighting.

b. the general focus was mainly kids with disabilities and sports pics
c. heads cut off, pictures were too original, and the pictures were too tight
d. the judges liked the silhouette picture, tone of the pics, and composition
e. i wasn't really a fan of his pictures because not very many had a good story behind it and he cut off a lot of peoples head.

b. the focus of this portfolio was mainly on sports players in the action
c. some didnt have good lighting, too staged, too many subjects
d. they liked the colors, captured good moments, liked the composition
e. I really liked this portfolio because his composition and lighting were good and he had very unique photos.

b. the main focus of this portfolio was sports and there was a section about pelicans
c. too plain, too tight, to much action
d. the judges liked the humorous photos, along with the lighting
e. I didn't really like this portfolio because it didn't really have any pictures that stood out.

a. the judges noted that the pictures were very creative, and that the frame was filled properly
b. to me his strengths were his colors he used in the photos and his composition was good in almost all the pictures
3. The judges looked through each portfolio and picked the ones that stood out and then decided from there which was the best. They picked the winner because he had all very strong pictures and not just one they were all quality pictures.

a. One picture i agree with the judges on was this picture of a rugby player who is covered in mud and the picture just shows his eyes and up. I thought it was a really neat picture and the black and white was a good choice for this.
b. One picture the judges didn't really care for was this black and white picture of a basketball team in the locker room with one of the players holding up the game ball. They didn't really like this one but i think it was a very good picture capturing a good moment in the game of basketball, the composition and the black and white were effective in this photo.
